The City of Simi Valley provides information and referrals on a variety of issues affecting the quality of life for residents. Please note that the City of Simi Valley does not provide any direct homeless services or emergency housing. The City provides resources and referrals to assist individuals in identifying the appropriate service provider or resource to address their needs. Additionally, the City established the Task Force on Homelessness to assist in preventing and reducing homelessness.

Ways to Reduce Homelessness

There are many ways to contribute to the efforts to prevent and reduce homelessness. Those individuals that would like to assist the homeless and those in need are encouraged to identify their Call to Action and to become familiar and see how they can become more involved with the Ventura County Plan to Prevent and End Homelessness.

Direct your generosity to service providers that assist those in need. Don't give money to panhandlers. Donations of time or money can go further and have a greater, longer-lasting impact on the homeless and those in need. Many organizations accept donations and rely heavily on volunteers to prevent and reduce homelessness.

Community Involvement

There are a number of opportunities available to the community to increase the collective understanding of issues other community members face and provide guidance on addressing various life challenges.

The Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District offers a wide variety of recreational and educational opportunities for the community.

Free courses are available to assist the community in understanding mental health issues and how to respond to mental health emergencies. Courses are offered nationally. View more course information and upcoming dates from Mental Health First Aid.

The Parent Project has provided 25 years of service to provide parent-training programs for parents raising difficult or out-of-control children. Search for upcoming classes in your area.

Interface Children and Family Services provides for the multifaceted needs of families through programs related to mental health, youth and family dynamics, and family violence intervention. Contact Interface Children and Family Services for additional program information at 805-485-6114.
