The City of Simi Valley understands the importance of opening a business in a timely manner, whether it involves a new location, expanding an existing, or relocating your business to the City of Simi Valley for the first time. Often times, a minor remodel will require the need for a plan submittal and building permit.  To assist you in the process, the City offers several resources and services.  Please visit the Tenant Improvement Process web page, which provides business owners and design consultants with valuable material outlining the various codes and State requirements for the development of commercial construction plans.

Also, for those business owners under time constraints to begin construction, the City offers a preliminary plan check service that provides the architect with written responses identifying corrections prior to submitting to plan check.  The fee for this service is approximately $350.  In addition, a complimentary walk through of the proposed site may also be arranged with the City's Building Official, business owner, and architect to address any concerns regarding code requirements prior to plan submittal.  If you are interested in utilizing any of these services to help facilitate the approval process, please contact the Building and Safety Division at (805) 583-6723.
