Public Relations Bureau - Volunteers

Volunteer Cop PhotoSince its inception in 1998, the Simi Valley Police Department Volunteer Program has provided residents from the community an opportunity to volunteer their services to augment and support Department staff with multiple projects.

Police Department volunteers assist the agency by performing a variety of duties. Some volunteer as Citizens on Patrol, while others assist at events like Simi Valley Days, the Simi Valley Street Fair and Safety Expo, and Simi Valley Police Foundation fundraisers. Police volunteers also help Department staff with crime prevention details and neighborhood watch meetings, participate in the Every 15 Minutes program, and distribute informational flyers to the public regarding pertinent crime trend information. Volunteers also act as docents, leading public tours of the Department’s facility.

Volunteers are aware that it is a privilege to be a civilian volunteer, as they are ambassadors and representatives of the Police Department and of the City of Simi Valley.  It is imperative that they maintain an image of professionalism at all times which parallels the professionalism of the Department. Uniforms are required at all meetings, functions, and public appearances unless otherwise directed.
