Workshop: Advanced Health Care Directive

Learn why it’s important to plan now, and what happens if you aren’t prepared.

Advance care planning is not just about aging. At any point, a medical crisis could leave you too ill to make your own healthcare decisions. Even if you are not currently ill, planning for health care in the future is an important step toward ensuring you get the medical care you want if you are unable to speak for yourself and doctors and family members are making the decisions for you. An Advance Health Care Directive allows you to share with your family and health care team what is most important to you when thinking about your health. Your completed directive will not only give you greater peace of mind, but it can provide comfort and guidance to the people in your life who may, at some point, be asked to speak on your behalf.

This free workshop that will focus on Advanced Health Care Directives, why it’s important to plan now, and what happens if you aren’t prepared. Learn the difference between Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care and Durable Power of Attorney for Finances, and why you are not completely covered if you just have a trust or a will. Before leaving the workshop at the Library, you will be able to complete your Advanced Health Care Directive and have it notarized at no charge to you.

This workshop is a partnership with Rose Family Funeral Home and Cremation.

Space is limited. Reservations are now being taken by registering on the library’s website calendar, or calling 805-526-1735.
