Deadline to Apply for the Community Projects Grant Review Committee

Community at-Large Representative

  • Date: 03/08/2018

TODAY IS THE DEADLINE FOR COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO APPLY FOR THE

COMMUNITY PROJECTS GRANT REVIEW COMMITTEE

The City of Simi Valley is currently accepting applications for one Community at Large representative and one alternate to serve on the Community Projects Grant (CPG) Review Committee.  The Review Committee reviews funding requests from local 501 (c)(3) non-profit organizations for projects and programs serving the community and makes recommendations to the City Council for funding awards.  The requests exceed $1.5 million each award cycle for the $150,000 available.  The CPG program is funded through an agreement with Waste Management and funding is disbursed at the discretion of the City Council.

The Review Committee consists of one representative from each of the four Neighborhood Councils, one representative from the Council On Aging, one representative from the Youth Council, one representative from the community. Alternates will be appointed for each position.

Applications will be accepted for one Community at Large position and one alternate from February 22, 2018 through March 8, 2018.  Applicants will be interviewed by a committee of two City Council Members who will recommend nominees to the City Council for appointment.  Applicants must be Simi Valley residents and have no conflicts of interest with any of the organizations who have applied for funding. City staff will assist in evaluating any potential conflicts based on past and current involvement of Review Committee applicants with the non-profit organizations. A list of the organizations who have applied for funding is included in the Review Committee application. Tentative dates for the Review Committee meetings have been scheduled for April 19, 2018 and May 3, 2018, in the evenings.  This timeline will allow the Review Committee to thoughtfully review funding requests prior to presenting recommendations to the City Council in June 2018.

The deadline to submit applications is March 8, 2018.  Applications may be submitted online at www.simivalley.org/cpgreviewcommittee.  Interviews for the Community at Large position are tentatively scheduled during the week of March 12, 2018.

For further information about the CPG program, visit www.simivalley.org/projectsgrant or contact the Community Services Department at (805) 583-6864.
