Overview

The Simi Valley Youth Council is an advisory board to the City Council on issues affecting youth in the community and is comprised of 21 members and up to three alternates. Each high school and middle school is represented on the Youth Council, as well as the Community at Large.

Membership on the Youth Council is open to residents of the City of Simi Valley who are in 7th through 12th grade. The current Youth Council term began on July 1, 2024, and will conclude on June 30, 2025.

Applications to serve on the Youth Council are accepted year-round, and successful applicants are appointed by the City Council each June.  The application period to serve on the 2025-26 Youth Council term will open in March 2025.

Upcoming Events

The Youth Council typically meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 5:00 p.m., August through June. All meetings of the Youth Council are open to the public. The Youth Council discusses various issues of interest and concern for youth. For upcoming meeting dates and agenda information, please see below.

501(c)(3) ORGANIZATIONS SERVING SIMI VALLEY ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY FOR THE COMMUNITY PROJECTS GRANT

APPLICATION DEADLINE IS TODAY 

 

Today is the last day that the City of Simi Valley will be accepting applications for the Community Projects Grant (CPG).  The CPG program is funded through an agreement with Waste Management.  There is annual funding of up to $150,000 available for local 501 (c)(3) non-profit organizations in support of community projects and programs.  The funding is disbursed at the discretion of the City Council.  Organizations are invited to submit funding applications from January 31 through February 21, 2018.  Submitted applications will be made available for public review at multiple public meetings of the Community Projects Grant Review Committee in April and May.

 

The deadline to submit applications is February 21, 2018 at 11:59 p.m.  To submit an application, go to www.simivalley.org/grantapplication.
