This free and highly anticipated event celebrates the books of Janet Squires, author of The Gingerbread Cowboy.
Explore the old west through activities and crafts from community partners, Macaroni Kid and Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District. Meet and greet with Ms. Squires. Read to a gentle therapy dog. Take your picture with Jesse from "Toy Story". All little buckaroos who arrive by 10:30 a.m. receive a ticket for a special drawing!
Presented by The Simi Valley Friends of the Library and the Simi Valley Public Library.
The Simi Valley Friends of the Library has been sponsoring the Book Festival since 1997 as a way to bring families together to celebrate reading. Research shows that families who read together, grow together. In conjunction with the Festival, the Friends donate books to Simi Valley Unified School District libraries and offer $600 grants to the schools so they may host an author or illustrator on campus. The Friends of the Library support the Simi Valley Public Library by funding programs like the Book Festival through membership and book sales in the Friends' Bookstore, located inside the Library.
