Deadline to apply for the Simi Valley Youth Employment Service Advisory Board Positions

The City of Simi Valley is currently accepting applications for positions on the Youth Employment Service (YES) Advisory Board. The YES Advisory Board promotes the employment of Simi Valley youth, assists youth in developing an understanding of the needs and expectations of employers, and acts as an advisory board to the City Council on matters involving youth employment. The YES conducts an annual Job and Career Expo plus Interview Skills Workshops at local high schools. Through their efforts, the YES not only prepares young people for future career success, but also helps instill confidence and self-esteem. The YES is an integral service to the local business community in teaching youth about application completion and job interview skills, resume preparation, and above all, encouraging strong work ethics to retain employment. The success of the YES would not be possible without the hard work and efforts of the YES Advisory Board.
Applications are being sought to fill the YES Advisory Board positions representing the following areas: one community-at-large, two local business, one local government, one Neighborhood Council, one Youth Council, two youth representatives ages 16 to 22, three Simi Valley Unified School District representatives, and one alternate at-large member. Applicants recommended by a Youth Employment Service Advisory Board interview subcommittee will be appointed by the Simi Valley City Council to serve terms of office from July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2019. The YES Advisory Board meets on the third Wednesday of each month, September through June, at 8:15 a.m. in the City Hall Community Room, 2929 Tapo Canyon Road.
