Applications are currently being accepted for the Citizens’ Election Advisory Commission (CEAC). The CEAC consists of five regular members and three alternate members who serve in an advisory capacity to the City Council on municipal election matters. CEAC members work with City staff to review candidate and committee financial campaign statements, prepare candidate and committee orientation briefings, and inform candidates and committees of State and local election code requirements. The CEAC meets approximately five times during an election year.
Any registered voter who resides within the incorporated limits of the City is eligible to serve on the CEAC except for those who will be candidates for the City Council, members of any candidate’s campaign committee, persons identified as members of a ballot measure committee, or City employees.
A special nine-member Selection Board, comprised of the Chairperson of each of the four Neighborhood Council Executive Boards and five members representing local service clubs and organizations, will interview the applicants and recommend the successful candidates for appointment. The City Council will make the formal appointments to the CEAC based on these recommendations.
Applications are being sought for three regular members and one alternate member to serve for four-year terms of office from May 2, 2016 through February 28, 2020, and two alternate members to serve un-expired two-year terms from May 2, 2016 through February 28, 2018. Application forms may be obtained from Ky Spangler, Deputy Director/City Clerk, 2929 Tapo Canyon Road, Simi Valley, California, 93063. The forms may be requested in person or by calling 583-6813. Application forms are also available on-line using the link below. Applications are due by 5:00 p.m. on April 1, 2016.
