This year’s Arbor Day program will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Rancho Simi Community Park (also known as Lemon Park), which is located at 3700 Avenida Simi. All are welcome to attend and to learn more about the importance of trees and how they help improve and sustain our environment, and all are encouraged to celebrate Arbor Day’s purpose by caring for and planting trees. The theme of this year’s 5th Grade poster contest is “Trees…Naturally Cool!” Finalists’ posters will be on display, and prizes will be awarded.
Festivities also include a memorial tree dedication, free tree give-away, and live music performed by students from the Santa Susana High School’s Instrumental Music Program. The Arbor Day program will be a part of the Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District’s “Community Showcase and Volunteer Day,” which will include Volunteer Day exhibits, Touch-A-Truck, children’s activities, vendors, music, food trucks, and more. The Community Showcase and Volunteer Day event starts at 10:00 a.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m., with the Arbor Day program beginning on the main stage at 11:00 a.m.
