emPower Ventura County will be holding a series of dinner workshops throughout the county to inform the public about how emPower helps Ventura County homeowners access easy and affordable home energy upgrades.
During each workshop, emPower Energy Coach Jason Scheurer will present real examples of common issues he has encountered during site visits to homes in Ventura County and answer questions from the audience. The event will also provide information on how the program can help connect homeowners to qualified local contractors for home assessments and recommendations on fixing common issues like: old or broken furnaces, ducts, windows and insulation. These upgrades will improve home comfort and indoor air quality while helping to lower utility bills and save energy.
In addition, attendees will learn about the energy audit process and how to take advantage of utility incentives of up to $6,500, ways to access low interest unsecured financing, and the importance of home energy efficiency. During the event, there will also be an opportunity to schedule a free Home Site Visit. “I had been considering doing home energy upgrades for a while, but I wasn’t sure where to start,” said workshop attendee, Mikkii Bouchard. “After attending an emPower workshop, I signed up for a free Energy Coach Site Visit, which opened my eyes by helping me understand where my home was losing energy. Jason also pointed out that there was asbestos in the vents and floor tile, a health issue that I was completely unaware of. I’m really glad to have gained all this knowledge about my home and am so excited that it was free.”
The emPower Program is in full swing in Ventura County and many homeowners have already taken advantage of emPower’s free Energy Coach Site Visits. “Having a free home energy evaluation is usually very empowering for people, regardless of the age of their house,” said Jason Scheurer, emPower Energy Coach for Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties. “People are constantly amazed by what they didn’t know about factors in their homes affecting health and energy efficiency.
Local qualified contractors involved in the emPower Program will also be on hand to answer questions or talk with attendees one-on-one after the presentation. All workshops include dinner and are free and open to the public.
