A Landlord-Tenant Workshop will be held on October 7, 2013, at the Simi Valley City Hall Community Room, located at 2929 Tapo Canyon Road. Simi Valley landlords and tenants interested in attending the workshop should call the Housing Rights Center at (800) 477-5977, extension 1102, for a reservation.
The City of Simi Valley has retained the services of the Housing Rights Center to provide this free workshop. Landlords, tenants, property managers, and other interested parties are invited to attend this free workshop. Topics of discussion will include discrimination, evictions, security deposits, repairs, and much more.
The workshop will also cover the enactment of Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, which led to the national Fair Housing Act, the State of California’s Fair Employment and Housing Act, and the Unruh Civil Rights Act. These laws promote non-discrimination in housing based on race, color, religion, sex, gender, national origin, familial status, disability, sexual orientation, age, marital status, and source of income.
