Community Observance For Victims Of Metrolink Collision
A Community Observance commemorating the victims of last week’s
Metrolink train collision will be held on Friday, September 19, 2008.
The brief Observance will begin at 6:15 p.m at the Simi Valley
Metrolink Station, 5050 Los Angeles Avenue, and will be led by Simi
Valley Police Department Chaplains. Information on local resources
available to support friends and family of victims, as well as
information on how community members can assist, will also be
available. Representatives from the Ventura County Chapter of the
American Red Cross, United Blood Services, and the Ventura County Fire
Department will also be on hand. Local service clubs will distribute
ribbons to those in attendance in remembrance of those whose lives were
lost, and as a sign of support and hope for the recovery of the dozens
of victims who were injured.
According to Mayor Paul Miller,
“The City of Simi Valley has received numerous telephone calls, e-mails
and inquiries from community members, service clubs and businesses
wanting to contribute and provide support to the families and
individuals who have been impacted by this terrible tragedy. This
Community Observance provides an opportunity for the community,
friends, neighbors and Metrolink passengers to come together in support
of the victims and their families.”
Additional information on the
Community Observance is available from the Community Services Department
