Residents of Simi Valley may dispose of residential cleanup material for free at the Simi Valley Landfill and Recycling Center, 2801 Madera Road, on Sunday, October 16, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Appliances, clean concrete and asphalt, clean wood and greenwaste, and construction or demolition material, will also be accepted for recycling. Goodwill Industries will be on site collecting gently used items for donation and electronic waste (such as televisions, computers, etc.)
Residents are requested to separate recyclable material from trash so it can be recycled and not landfilled and will need to unload their own vehicles. The CHP requires all loads to be covered to prevent spillage. No commercial waste, hazardous waste, liquids, tires, household batteries, products containing mercury (such as thermometers and thermostats), or fluorescent light tubes and bulbs will be accepted. This event is for residents and nonprofit organizations only. Proof of Simi Valley residency, such as a driver’s license with a Simi Valley address, will be required. Please visit the Landfill’s website, www.KeepingVenturaCountyClean.com, for more information.
In order to avoid paying commercial dump fees and to expedite the process, any residents transporting their waste to the event in a commercial vehicle should call the Landfill at (805) 579-7267 prior to the event for more information.
