On August 4, 2008, at 5:00 p.m., the City of Simi Valley will rename Civic Center Way as “Officer Michael Clark Memorial Parkway” in honor of Officer Michael F. Clark who served as a Police Officer for the City of Simi Valley. Officer Clark served the citizens of Simi Valley with courage and distinction and made the ultimate sacrifice protecting those he had sworn to serve. On August 4, 1995, Officer Clark was shot and killed in the line of duty while handling a “check the welfare” call.
In tribute to Officer Clark, the City of Simi Valley will dedicate the street leading into the Police Department in his name on the thirteenth anniversary of his death. Mayor Paul Miller, Members of the City Council, Simi Valley Police Officers, and the family and friends of Officer Clark will gather in front of the Simi Valley Police Station at 3901 Alamo Street, approximately 500 feet west of Tapo Canyon Road, to officially rename and dedicate the street in honor of Officer Clark. Mayor Miller, former Chief of Police, will preside over the event in memory of Officer Clark.
Members of the community and the media are encouraged to attend this public event to express their support for Officer Clark’s family and friends. A brief reception will immediately follow the ceremony at the Police Department.
