Overview

The Simi Valley Youth Council is an advisory board to the City Council on issues affecting youth in the community and is comprised of 21 members and up to three alternates. Each high school and middle school is represented on the Youth Council, as well as the Community at Large.

Membership on the Youth Council is open to residents of the City of Simi Valley who are in 7th through 12th grade. The current Youth Council term began on July 1, 2024, and will conclude on June 30, 2025.

Applications to serve on the Youth Council are accepted year-round, and successful applicants are appointed by the City Council each June.  The application period to serve on the 2025-26 Youth Council term will open in March 2025.

Upcoming Events

The Youth Council typically meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 5:00 p.m., August through June. All meetings of the Youth Council are open to the public. The Youth Council discusses various issues of interest and concern for youth. For upcoming meeting dates and agenda information, please see below.

6th Annual Simi Valley Talent Show - Sold Out

The Simi Valley Youth Council to host its sixth annual Talent Show on Wednesday, April 17, 2024.  Twenty-eight talented acts are scheduled to perform in front of a SOLD OUT crowd on the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center's Main Stage, located at 3050 East Los Angeles Avenue, Simi Valley CA 93065.

“The Youth Council's annual talent show is a fantastic opportunity for both new and seasoned performers to gain experience, be recognized for their abilities, and showcase their performing skills,” said Fundraising Chair Jacob Salvanera.

Cash prizes will be awarded in eight specific categories by a panel of three qualified judges.  Additionally, the audience will vote on the People’s Choice winner.

The Simi Valley Youth Council is an advisory board to the City Council on issues that affect the youth in the community.  It is composed of 24 middle and high school students.  Community members and youth are encouraged to follow the Youth Council on Instagram @simivalleyyouthcouncil.
