Overview

The Simi Valley Youth Council is an advisory board to the City Council on issues affecting youth in the community and is comprised of 21 members and up to three alternates. Each high school and middle school is represented on the Youth Council, as well as the Community at Large.

Membership on the Youth Council is open to residents of the City of Simi Valley who are in 7th through 12th grade. The current Youth Council term began on July 1, 2024, and will conclude on June 30, 2025.

Applications to serve on the Youth Council are accepted year-round, and successful applicants are appointed by the City Council each June.  The application period to serve on the 2025-26 Youth Council term will open in March 2025.

Upcoming Events

The Youth Council typically meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 5:00 p.m., August through June. All meetings of the Youth Council are open to the public. The Youth Council discusses various issues of interest and concern for youth. For upcoming meeting dates and agenda information, please see below.

Youth Town Hall - Event Postponed

This event has been postponed to Monday, February 26, 2024.

The Simi Valley Youth Council and the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute will host the 2024 Youth Town Hall on Thursday, January 18, 2024.  

The Youth Town Hall is a model youth-led, youth-driven event, providing a venue for middle and high school students to ask questions a discussion panel all facets relating to social and academic stress faced by students. Youth Town Hall attendees will have the unique opportunity to ask panelists a variety of questions of concern via Poll Everywhere, social media, and the use of comment cards. After lunch, students have the opportunity to tour the museum.  

Teachers throughout Ventura County are encouraged to register their classes of middle and high school students or homeschool groups to attend this free event by February 22, 2024.  One adult chaperone is required per each group of 15 students.
