As part of the YES Summer Workshop Series, the YES and Public Library will host workshops for young adult job seekers. On June 22, 2022, an Entering the Workforce Workshop with a focus on Entrepreneurship will be held covering employment options for teens, workplace ethics and safety, work permits and types of jobs permitted, as well as job readiness. This workshop is targeted for 13 to 16 year old job seekers, though job seekers of all ages may attend. Participants will also have the opportunity to speak with teen entrepreneurs. Participants will also hear from representatives from a few local nonprofits regarding volunteer opportunities.
Reserving a seat is recommended as seating is limited. Walk-ins are welcome.
After the workshop, from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., YES and the Simi Valley Public Library will host a one-hour Mini Volunteer Fair for all community members inside the main section of the library. Workshop participants are encouraged to attend.

Wednesday, July 27, 2022 - The Building a Resume and/or Brag Sheet for Jobs, College and Scholarship Applications Workshop will focus on resume writing basics, what is a brag sheet and how it differs from a resume, what students can do now to build an impressive resume and/or brag sheet, and much more. Workshop participants will have access to Library laptops and wireless printer to be able to leave the workshop with a resume.
Thursday, August 4, 2022 - The Using LinkedIn Learning to Gain Job Skills Workshop, led by the Simi Valley Public Library staff, will focus on the following: how to access LinkedIn Learning for free, search and complete online training offered, how the training can benefit job seekers, and much more. This workshop is intended for anyone over 16 years of age.
