Program for Public Information (PPI) Committee

The City is part of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) which provides access to NFIP flood insurance. The City also participates in the Community Rating System which provides flood insurance premium discounts for its public information activities. The role of the PPI Committee is to provide oversight of the City’s public information activities regarding its flood plains and flood insurance.

The PPI Committee has members from both inside and outside the local government. Staff from the City Department of Public Works, Emergency Services, and the City Manager’s Office have been assigned by City Council resolution to work together with active members of the community, including representatives of the insurance industry, to develop and implement the PPI Plan.

PPI Plan

The PPI Committee met twice during the initial development of the PPI Plan, and will continue to meet annually to monitor and update the plan. The updated plan will then be forwarded to the City Council to receive and file. Every five years, the City Council will adopt a fully updated PPI Plan.

Public Invited to City Budget Meeting

The Simi Valley City Council invites residents to attend a public meeting to discuss the City’s FY 2022-23 Proposed Budget and Capital Improvement Program.

This meeting will provide residents and business owners with the opportunity to hear a brief overview presentation by City staff and allow participants to provide their input and feedback on the City budget. Comments from the public meeting will be recorded and summarized, then provided to the City Council for consideration during budget deliberations.

The public meeting process was designed by the City Council to provide transparency and open discussion about the budget challenges and opportunities during this budget development process. The Proposed Budget will be considered by the City Council for adoption at its meeting on June 13, 2022.

Copies of the Proposed Budget and Capital Improvement Program will be available on the City’s website.  A printed version will also be available at City Hall (2929 Tapo Canyon Road) and the Simi Valley Public Library (2969 Tapo Canyon Road) for the public to review.  Additionally, hard copies will be available for purchase at City Hall, 2929 Tapo Canyon Road.
