Program for Public Information (PPI) Committee

The City is part of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) which provides access to NFIP flood insurance. The City also participates in the Community Rating System which provides flood insurance premium discounts for its public information activities. The role of the PPI Committee is to provide oversight of the City’s public information activities regarding its flood plains and flood insurance.

The PPI Committee has members from both inside and outside the local government. Staff from the City Department of Public Works, Emergency Services, and the City Manager’s Office have been assigned by City Council resolution to work together with active members of the community, including representatives of the insurance industry, to develop and implement the PPI Plan.

The PPI Committee met twice during the initial development of the PPI Plan, and will continue to meet annually to monitor and update the plan. The updated plan will then be forwarded to the City Council to receive and file. Every five years, the City Council will adopt a fully updated PPI Plan.

City of Simi Valley is Accepting Applications for Appointment to the Area Housing Authority of the County of Ventura Board of Commissioners

The City of Simi Valley is soliciting applications for two Commissioner positions to represent the interests of the City's housing needs on the Area Housing Authority (AHA) of the County of Ventura Board of Commissioners. The Board of Commissioners is responsible for the AHA's policies, finances, operations and general oversight of the AHA. The AHA's primary mandate is to provide decent and affordable housing accommodations for very low income families, elderly, handicapped and disabled individuals. Of the two positions, one has a term of four years and the other is for an unscheduled vacancy with a term expiring in December 2023. Both terms will commence upon appointment and the first meeting for the new appointees will be in October 2021. Meetings are held once a month on the fourth Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. Members are paid a per meeting stipend and mileage reimbursement for each meeting attended in person. Due to COVID-19, meetings will be held via Zoom for the foreseeable future. All applicants will need to have the ability to attend meetings virtually and in person at the AHA offices in Newbury Park when in-person meetings resume.

The deadline for submitting applications is September 12, 2021, A two-member City Council committee will interview and nominate prospective Commissioners to the City Council for appointment in early October.
