Overview
The Simi Valley Youth Council is an advisory board to the City Council on issues affecting youth in the community and is comprised of 21 members and up to three alternates. Each high school and middle school is represented on the Youth Council, as well as the Community at Large.
Application
Membership on the Youth Council is open to residents of the City of Simi Valley who are in 7th through 12th grade. The current Youth Council term began on July 1, 2024, and will conclude on June 30, 2025.
Applications to serve on the Youth Council are accepted year-round, and successful applicants are appointed by the City Council each June. The application period to serve on the 2025-26 Youth Council term will open in March 2025.

Upcoming Events
The Youth Council typically meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 5:00 p.m., August through June. All meetings of the Youth Council are open to the public. The Youth Council discusses various issues of interest and concern for youth. For upcoming meeting dates and agenda information, please see below.

Weeklong Virtual Youth Employment Service (YES) Job and Career Expo

Teens and young adults, ages 14 to 25, seeking employment or internships are encouraged to attend the 33rd Annual Youth Employment Service (YES) Job and Career Expo. This free weeklong virtual event will begin on Saturday, April 24 and run through Friday, April 30, 2021 at www.simivalley.org/2021jobexpo. The website will be live on Saturday, April 24, 2021. This free event is provided as a community and business service by the City of Simi Valley and sponsored by the Boys & Girls Club of Simi Valley and the Rotary Club of Simi Sunrise.
Job seekers will have the opportunity to learn about, and apply directly to, more than 1,000 job openings. Attendees will also have access to online YES resources designed to help them learn how to get hired.
Highlights of the Virtual YES Job and Career Expo:
- More than 1,000 job openings available!
- Virtual mock interviews offered on Tuesday, April 27 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., and on Saturday, May 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., to help job seekers develop and/or perfect their interview skills.
- A live Q&A will be available from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily during the Expo.
The virtual YES Job and Career Expo will also provide attendees an opportunity to learn about career options, programs, internship, and volunteer opportunities available with a variety of businesses and non-profit organizations.
The annual YES Job and Career Expo, provided as a community and business service by the City of Simi Valley and co-sponsored by the Rotary Club of Simi Sunrise and the Boys and Girls Club of Moorpark and Simi Valley, is free for both participating employers and job seekers ages 14 to 25.
