Neighborhood Councils are a unique part of the City of Simi Valley government with many of our neighbors taking an active role in community-based efforts. The City is organized into four Neighborhood Council districts with every City resident 18 years and older considered a member of their Neighborhood Council.

Each Neighborhood Council has a 13 member volunteer Executive Board that represents the residents in their district. If you would like to participate in local government, learn about your City, and have a direct voice in the issues and concerns that matter to you, Neighborhood Councils are the place for you.

Recruitment

The City is currently accepting applications for Neighborhood Council Executive Board members through Friday, November 15, 2024.  Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and residents of the City of Simi Valley.  Successful candidates will be appointed by the City Council to serve in an advisory capacity for a two-year term from March 1, 2025 to February 28, 2027.

Identifying your Neighborhood Council District

The City of Simi Valley has four pre-defined Neighborhood Council Districts. Identify your Neighborhood Council District.

What do Neighborhood Councils do?

They act as a link between City government and residents. They advise the City Council and Planning Commission on resident concerns, development projects, and other matters on which the City Council has specifically requested their input. They offer residents a regular opportunity to voice their concerns or ask questions about their neighborhood and city. They work within the City's government structure to develop ideas and recommendations for community concerns related to planning and development projects, public safety, traffic issues, community services, etc.

Why are Neighborhood Councils important?

Neighborhood Councils allow residents to participate in local government at the neighborhood level. They give the City Council and City staff a clearer understanding of community concerns and advise the City Council and Planning Commission on development projects from the perspective of residents.

When do the Neighborhood Councils Meet?

Each Neighborhood Council Executive Board meets once a month at 7:00 p.m. in the Community Room at City Hall 2929 Tapo Canyon Road, Simi Valley, CA 93063.

Takeout Tuesday

  • Date: 07/14/2020

Simi Valley invites our community to participate in Takeout Tuesday, a County-wide effort to support our local restaurants during the economic challenges created by COVID-19.  Many of the City’s small businesses are bearing a unique financial burden. Fortunately, you can help keep your local restaurant afloat with some small helpful measures.

Ventura County Public Health has ordered that restaurants may only provide takeout and delivery with no in restaurant dining.  To support the community’s restaurants, order at least one delivery or takeout meal every Tuesday (or more often) to show your support for your local favorite spots.   Purchasing gift cards or certificates to be used at a later time is another great way to support these establishments.

Please visit https://www.simivalleychamber.org/restaurants.html to view a list of all restaurants offering takeout and/or delivery services, compiled by the Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Use the hashtag #TakeoutTuesday and post what you picked up or ordered in.
