The Simi Valley Youth Council is seeking talent show acts for its 2nd Annual Talent Show. Vocalists, musicians, comedians, poets, magicians, and more are all encouraged to audition for this impressive showcase. For audition submissions all individual and group acts must comply with COVID-19 Stay At Home and social distancing orders. Participants may select to compete for prizes or showcase their talent non-competitively. Acts will be selected to compete in a virtual talent show to take place Friday, May 29, 2020, on an online platform soon to be announced.
“The talent show is a great opportunity for performers; not only do they get to share their talent with the community, they also will compete for cash prizes,” says Ashley Kilmnick, Youth Council Member and Talent Show Chair.
The cash prizes will be awarded in specific categories in addition to a People’s Choice winner. A panel of qualified judges will select the winners.
“The Youth Council has decided that the show must go on and will be hosting the event virtually,” Kilmnick said. “During the COVID-19 pandemic, we felt continuing on with the event is another way for the community to come together in a positive way.”
Applications and contest rules are available online at www.simivalley.org/talentshow. All acts must submit an application and audition video clip by Friday, April 24, 2020. Previously recorded videos of live solo or group performances will be accepted.
The Talent Show will also serve as a fundraiser to help support the Youth Council’s community projects and events throughout the year. These include the anti-bullying and suicide prevention campaigns; printing of teen crisis numbers on the back of school ID cards; and the annual flagship event, the Simi Valley Youth Summit. Businesses and individuals interested in sponsoring this event can contact Kristin Tignac, Youth Council Coordinator, at (805) 583-6766.
