Metrolink Memorial Plaza Dedication
The City of Simi Valley will host a dedication ceremony for the Metrolink Memorial Plaza on Saturday, September 12, 2009, at 4:00 p.m.
The Metrolink Memorial Plaza will serve as a permanent remembrance for those impacted by the Metrolink train collision in Chatsworth on September 12, 2008. The Plaza was designed through a series of community workshops attended by many dedicated community members, including friends and families of victims of the collision. The Plaza includes basalt columns to represent the victims of the collision, in-ground markers designed by the families of the 25 people who lost their lives, plaques informing visitors of the Plaza’s significance, and a seating area with a latticed shade structure for visitors to pause and reflect. An additional basalt column will serve as a permanent memorial for those impacted by the Metrolink train collision in Glendale on January 26, 2005.
