Overview

The Simi Valley Youth Council is an advisory board to the City Council on issues affecting youth in the community and is comprised of 21 members and up to three alternates. Each high school and middle school is represented on the Youth Council, as well as the Community at Large.

Membership on the Youth Council is open to residents of the City of Simi Valley who are in 7th through 12th grade. The current Youth Council term began on July 1, 2024, and will conclude on June 30, 2025.

Applications to serve on the Youth Council are accepted year-round, and successful applicants are appointed by the City Council each June.  The application period to serve on the 2025-26 Youth Council term will open in March 2025.

Upcoming Events

The Youth Council typically meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 5:00 p.m., August through June. All meetings of the Youth Council are open to the public. The Youth Council discusses various issues of interest and concern for youth. For upcoming meeting dates and agenda information, please see below.

Public Invited To City Budget Meeting

The Simi Valley City Council invites residents to attend a public meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at City Hall in the Community Room, 2929 Tapo Canyon Road, to discuss the City’s FY 2019-20 Proposed Budget and Capital Improvement Program.

This meeting will provide residents and business owners with the opportunity to hear a brief overview presentation by City staff and then to provide input and feedback. Comments from the public meeting will be recorded and summarized, then provided to the City Council for consideration during budget deliberations.

The public meeting process was designed by the City Council to provide transparency and open discussion about the budget challenges and opportunities during this budget development process. The Proposed Budget will be considered by the City Council for adoption at its meeting on June 3, 2019.

Beginning Monday, May 20th, copies of the Proposed Budget and Capital Improvement Program, will be available on the City’s website at www.simivalley.org and for free review of the book at City Hall and at the Simi Valley Public Library, 2969 Tapo Canyon Road.  Additionally, hard copies will be available for purchase at City Hall, 2929 Tapo Canyon Road.
